X-Boat Race Team

AGES: 8-16
DURATION: 3-5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, three, four, or seven week sessions
PREREQUISITES: None

The X-Class has been one of the most popular youth training boats in the Midwest for over 75 years. Typically sailed and raced by boys and girls between the ages of 10-16, the X’s stable design and durability make it the perfect boat for young sailors looking for an easy transition from the Optimist to the Club 420.

Students will learn all about tactics, tuning, boat speed, tacking, gybing, and big fleet starting techniques. Registration includes coaching and support at practices.

There will be local club races held on Wednesday nights and Saturdays throughout the summer on White Bear Lake. Students enrolled in the class will not have to pay the WBYC Sailing Division Fee to participate in those races.

What to bring?
All sailors need to bring a lifejacket, sunscreen, towel, and change of clothes. Shoes must be closed-backed (no flip-flops).

Students enrolled in our X program must provide their own boat and equipment. Please email sailwbss@gmail.com for information about boats for sale and lift space or if you are interested in racing X boats but do not have your own boat.
